Grouping
plants together such that each flourishes is a skill;
combining them together to create an ever changing palette
of color, is an art. But take heart from the words of Louise
Beebe Wilder, author of Color In My Garden (1918),
"In the garden, everyone can be an artist without apology or
explanation".
We make no
claims that English Cottage Gardening-American Style
eliminates all gardening risks, nor will it turn all our
customers into gardening experts, for no software can make
gardening decisions for you. Preset designs won't work, for
every bed is unique. No software can accurately
mature' plants. Plant two delphiniums, each in a
separate bed, and they display different growing habits. A
flower garden is home to hundreds of individual entities,
each with it's own character and growing agenda.
However,
English Cottage Gardening-American Style guarantees
to place at the fingertips of gardeners, a vast selection of
suitable plants from which to choose. It provides invaluable
and in-depth information on each plant:
- Mature
height (prostrate/6" x 2 ft);
- Idiosyncrasies
(spreads/doesn't spread, short blooming, long
blooming, attractive foliage, etc.);
- Lighting
requirements (sun, light shade, tolerates
sun/shade.);
- Soil
requirements (fertile, non-fertile, moist, dry,
sandy);
- Care
and maintenance (deadhead, shear after blooming,
needs staking).
..... And of
course, the color photographs help the gardener in
choosing plants wisely, and the tutorials teach intelligent
bed planning, and the placement of plants in the best
relationship to their bed companions.
We hope
you will join our ever expanding family of satisfied
customers.
