COMMENTS: Ornamentally popular, this species is the most poisonous of the group and the source of the medicinal drug, aconite. The blossoms are the only part of the plant not considered poisonous to humans. If the juices of the roots, leaves or seeds enter an open wound, the effects can be serious. Wearing gloves is advised when handling this plant. It thrives in a rich, moist, humusy soil and resents being transplanted.
