COMMENTS: The unusual flowerheads are approximately 1-1/2 inches wide. They will tolerate a poor garden soil, and once established will naturalize easily. Make excellent cut flowers. Well drained soil is essential. Note that the leaves of all allium turn yellow when blooming begins, and can be removed if unsightly. Allium should be planted in the fall as they require a period of cold dormancy to grow well and bloom. Plant anytime in the fall before the ground freezes.
