COMMENTS: Shown in its natural colors of scarlet and yellow. Columbine is best grown in bright shade and protected from direct sun in very hot summer locations. It requires moist, yet well-drained, rich soil. The genus Aquilegia provide an airy, exotic look to the beds and are available in many forms and color combinations. Although a short-lived perennial, this is a species which deserves more attention. Look for and plant as many cultivars as you can.
