COMMENTS: A robust and sturdy plant, it spreads quickly on underground stems and pops up everywhere in the garden, so give it space. If it has to fight for space from its plant companions, it will probably win. The taller cultivars are best used as a backdrop in a large border bed where the lower foliage is hidden, but the wonderfully intense blue blossoms are still evident. An average, light soil is workable, and it tolerates dry conditions. A very useful addition to the vase arrangements with the lower leaves removed.
