COMMENTS: Similar in bloom to the summer blooming shasta daisy (C. x superbum) this plant has dark green foliage which is thick, blunt-tipped, 3-to 4-inches long and toothed only at the farthest end. Unusual in that it carries woody stems, the entire plant normally dies to the ground in severely cold regions, even if sheltered. The 2- to 3-inch daisylike blossoms have greenish yellow centers and grow solitary on a slender stem. The lower part of the foliage often falls off the stems. Thriving at seashore locations, it adapts to garden use elsewhere with a humusy, moist, well-drained, average soil.
