COMMENTS:
Having lost a dozen new plants over their first
winter in 1996 (Zone 6), I contacted my supplier
and investigations revealed that the nurseryman had
planted young starter plants in a very sheltered
site for the first two seasons before moving them
into the border beds. If the gardener is
successful, they will be thrilled by the dramatic
appearance of this plant with its conspicuous white
leaf-margins and masses of tiny buttonlike blooms.
A mature plant develops into an excellent spreading
ground cover. Provide a rich, moist, well-drained
soil. Winter mulching in severe winter areas is
advised.
There is a pink cultivar called 'Pink Ice'.
