COMMENTS: This vigorous and hardy plant makes a 2 ft. wide clump of dazzling variegated foliage, topped from July until frost with 2-inch bright yellow daisies-like blooms. It is shorter than most heliopsis. Each leaf on the upright stems is deep green, highlighted by dramatic white veining. It is very drought resistant and prefers a well-drained, average fertility soil kept on the dry side. Heliopsis is both similar in appearance to, and closely related to Helianthus, the true sunflower. 'Loraine Sunshine' (shown) is a 1998 introduction by a California grower.
