COMMENTS:
This is the parent of the hybrid H. x
brizoides. Very long flowering, the many slim,
1 ft. stems carrying a profusion of 1/4 inch
florets in airy, terminal panicles. The
bronze-green basal leaf 4- to 6-inch high mound is
formed of kidney-shaped or rounded, 1- to 2-inch
crinkled leaves with a color-contrasting veining.
Provide a rich, well-drained, moist soil. Some
afternoon shading is acceptable.
H. sanguinea 'Snow Storm' has interesting
marbled medium-green leaves splashed with white,
and deep red flowers.
