COMMENTS: Clumps of big, bold colored oriental poppies is a breathtaking vision. P. orientale have huge flowers with petals which look like crepe paper. The stems are erect and hairy. Try to plant where they are protected from the wind as they are top heavy. All foliage disappears after flowering is completed, although new short foliage will reappear shortly after. It prefers a well-drained site and is adaptable to most soil. To cut for the indoor arrangement, sear the stem with a flame and harden off in water for a few hours.
